CARE-Free was created by the founder of California Animal Rehabilitation, Dr. Jessica Waldman, to enable pets in need of physical rehabilitation to receive much needed medical care. These pets, often homeless, might not otherwise have a chance to live a happy, healthy, pain-free life. CARE-FREE pets are treated at California Animal Rehabilitation.
Pets utilizing this program typically have conditions such as: emotional and physical trauma, extensive orthopedic surgeries, severe pain, paralysis, birth defects, age-related joint problems, spinal ailments and obesity.
Through medical boarding or outpatient care, CARE-Free provides: physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, medication and supplements, pool swims, underwater treadmill, splints, braces, wheelchairs, and slings. Healing technologies are adjunct to our therapies. These technologies include laser therapy for pain management, electronical stimulation (e-stim), TENS for comfort, magnetic therapy for improving circulation, and Pulsed Signal Therapy (PST) for alleviating bone pain and regenerating cartilage and bone. Pets are treated under the supervision of veterinarians and physical therapists certified in canine rehabilitation.
In our partnership with rescue groups, we prioritize foster and owner education, provide community outreach, and counsel prospective new pet owners regarding adoption of special needs pets.
We endeavor to develop alliances and work primarily with rescue groups and local shelters. We are driven to improve the comfort and quality of life for dogs, cats and other pets by providing financial and/or educational resources for treatment, thereby improving adopt-ability when relevant.
